Overview

KBr Fundación MAPFRE is an exhibition project that focuses on photography, as a form of language for future generations and to contribute to the international projection of creativity and cultural dynamism in Barcelona.

The name KBr Fundación MAPFRE Barcelona refers to the chemical formula of potassium bromide, a nod to development in analog photography and a declaration of intentions from the institution's line, committed to the recovery of tradition and masters of photography, but also with contemporaneity.

This new venue of 1,400 m2 center is located at the foot of the iconic Mapfre Tower, on Avenida Litoral.

From October 5, 2022 to January 15, 2023 open with two temporal exhibitions: Carrie Mae Weems: A Big Twist on the Possible and KBr Flame 22.

Carrie Mae Weems exhibition is shown simultaneously at the KBr Fundación MAPFRE and at Foto Colectania. You can access to Foto Colectania, showing this ticket at the Foto Colectania box office and paying €3 supplement.

KBr is the new Photography Center with which Fundación MAPFRE in Barcelona launches a new stage in its intense dedication to artistic photography. KBr Fundación Mapfre understands photography as a form of language that seeks to contribute to the international projection of creativity and cultural dynamism in Barcelona.

With two exhibition spaces, a bookstore, an area for educational activities and a multipurpose auditorium, KBr has become a national and international reference in the field of photography. This new space in the city, located in the Port Olimpic area on the Barcelona seafront, near the Poblenou Districte Cultural.

He begins his exhibitions with two temporary exhibitions by Bill Brand and Paul Strand.
