MACBA Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona
MACBA - the most famous museum of contemporary art in Barcelona. It opened its doors in 1995 and since then it is a cultural center of reference in this city.

The idea to open this center become from Associació d'Artistes Actuals, formed by artists, critics and art lovers in 1956. They visited a lot of museums in the world and was trying to do the best mix of their experience.

Government of Catalonia started to believe in this project just in 1985.

In 1987, the Museum of Contemporary Art Foundation was constituted, of a private nature, which joined the consortium formed by the two public administrations.
