A typical 19th century Catalan country house with vineyards spreading in front of the property reveals a wonderful Mediterranean sight. History arises from the ancient walls of this house, offering a wonderful opportunity to learn many aspects
of our past, from the Spanish Civil War to the old ways of making wine.

Not in many places can one close their eyes in the darkness of an old 19th century fermentation tank, used as a cellar now, and almost religiously uncork a cava bottle in full silence to be able to
hear the sound of bubbles growing foamy in the glass.

The Designation of Origin (DO) Penedès is one of the 14 DOs we find in Catalonia, and one of the most famous in the nearly 65 accross Spain. Its still wines are highly recognized, but what have made this region renowned are the sparkling wines produced in
it: the famous cava. Many compare it to champagne or prosecco, but truth is that cava is a world of its own, with exclusive traditions, techniques and native grape varieties that have been used in Catalonia for centuries.

DO Penedès is where roughly 95% of the cava is made and distributed from. Many local families work everyday in this territory to reflect its uniqueness on their still and sparkling wines.
